Preparing for Worship: November 24, 2019

November 25, 2019

The people of Israel would have likely sung Psalm 127 on their pilgrimage to Jerusalem for a religious holiday. It serves as a way to realign their perspective as they prepare their hearts to worship God. As we head into our own holiday season, we need to allow the principles in this psalm to realign our own perspective regarding our pursuits, and help us remember the source of all the blessings we receive. In Psalm 127, the psalmist gives us two contrasting truths that establish God’s sovereignty in man’s pursuits:

  1. The vanity of striving apart from God (vv. 1–2)
  2. The blessing of rewards provided by God (vv. 3–5)

Songs we will sing this week include the following, provided in a Spotify playlist here, or a YouTube playlist here

  1. All Creatures of Our God and King
  2. Jesus! What a Friend for Sinners
  3. How Deep the Father's Love for Us
  4. Jesus, Thank You
  5. The Goodness of Jesus
